Edison Park Lutheran Church has been ministering in the far northwest side of Chicago for nearly 80 years. With a baptized membership of about 1000 people, we are a community of faith offering all people the opportunity to share in worship of the Triune God. Our congregation recognizes that Jesus Christ is present in Word and Sacrament, and we know that we receive faith and power for ministry from the Holy Spirit, even as we strive to be faithful in serving our Heavenly Father in all aspects of life. We work in partnership with the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We support education for all ages, as well as ministries in the areas of social services and disaster relief.
We have three weekly Sunday worship services at which the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper is offered; mid-week worship services during Advent and Lent; and opportunities to learn the Word of God in greater depth through various adult education programs, Sunday School classes, and confirmation classes, as well as Vacation Bible School. We have a Preschool for 4-year-olds, which is open to children of any race, color, or national and ethnic origin. And we offer numerous opportunities for our members and friends to participate in the broader life of the church through such activities as voice and handbell choirs, Senior Fellowship, Boy Scouts, monthly Family Movie Nites, a Parents-of-Teens discussion group, a women's ministry program, and many fellowship events that are held throughout the year.
