Being part of a Christian community begins with baptism. The Lutheran community recognizes all Christian baptisms regardless of the denomination of the person seeking membership. For those who are baptized, a brief period of instruction precedes the official reception into membership which is customarily done at a public worship service.
The congregation is also aware that many adults come without having been baptized. For those individuals instruction in the Christian faith is followed by baptism, which then automatically makes them members of the congregation.
For more information on membership or new member classes, contact the church office, 773-631-9131.
Children are invited to join the worshiping community at Holy Communion. Prior to the second grade, children will receive a blessing unless parents have requested that they receive the sacrament. In the second grade students and parents are invited to participate in classes which lead to the student’s first communion.
