Students in the seventh and eight grades are invited to join either or both EPLC's Confirmation and Junior High groups. The confirmation program meets Wednesday evenings from 6:00 until 7:30pm. Outside of this educational time students also perform service projects such as serving dinner at a homeless shelter, Christmas caroling at nursing homes, and volunteering at a food pantry. The Junior High group meets once a month for game nights, movie nights, lockins and other activities. As a part of the Confirmation or Junior High ministries, youth are encouraged to participate in the many activities and trips supported by EPLC such as CROP WALK, The Hunger (a thirty-hour fast and service event), Clean-up days, Christian Music Festivals, etc.
EPLC recognizes that the junior high years are both pivotal and difficult for the lives of young people. On at least one Saturday of each month youth in grades seven and eight are invited for an evening of fun at the church. These nights vary in activities but have included games, movies, pizza, Nerf fights, dodgeball, volleyball and other activities. Involvement in the Confirmation program is in no way a requirement to join in these nights. EPLC and our junior high students extend an invitation to all youth in the seventh and eighth grades regardless of denomination or involvement. The Confirmation program at Edison Park Lutheran Church has a strong history of education for our young people. The Program begins each September and runs throughout the school year until the confirmation of the second year students in May. The Confirmation program is coordinated and taught by both pastors as well as two lay volunteers. This year the Confirmation team will be using the Faith Inkubators curriculum along with the new Lutheran Handbook.
